The Village of Potsdam is proud to announce the start of construction on Brooks Street, a new two-way roadway that will connect Raymond and Depot Streets in the heart of downtown. The project marks a major milestone in the Village’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative and will improve traffic flow, pedestrian access, and support ongoing economic development efforts in the district.
To celebrate the start of this transformative infrastructure project, the Village will host a groundbreaking ceremony:
📅 Date: Thursday, April 24, 2025
🕝 Time: 1:30 PM
📍 Location: 15 Raymond Street, Potsdam, NY 13676 (Raymond–Depot Street area)
The new street will feature sidewalks, street trees, LED lighting, and other enhancements to support a safer, more accessible, and vibrant downtown. Brooks Street is designed to address long-standing traffic circulation issues created by past urban renewal efforts and will improve access to area businesses and attractions such as the North Country Children’s Museum and the future St. Lawrence Arts Council Multi-Arts Center.
Funding for the project is provided through a combination of local support and a grant from the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC), with additional assistance from the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony. Village officials and project partners will offer brief remarks, and a photo opportunity will follow.
